MACC

Music is a central part of the liturgy, worship, and community at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph. As a group of talented musicians, singers and performers the ensemble prides itself in offering to its community awe-inspiring, multicultural sacred music through weekly worship and a concert plus series program.

Alejandro Zuleta, Director of Music at Co-Cath tasked us with creating a visual identity that represented the multicultural demographics of the historic parish. Our new vision for the project included an abbreviation of the project’s name, from Music At Co-Cath to a more upbeat and shortened MACC. Our work’s heart lies in the creation of an identity system that would re-assert liturgical music as a crucial, global contemporary art form - all while staying rooted in the rich cultural diversity of the Cathedral’s community.

The typography-led visual identity is grounded in a vibrant color palette that reflects the contagious spirit of the Coro Hispano, a pilar of MACC’s annual program. Contrasting typefaces allow for an ever-responsive and evolving visual system that brings to life the dynamic qualities of the music and sound that can be heard in the Brooklyn based Cathedral.
